Feeding the 5000 Brighton

In true Brightonian style, our hotly anticipated surplus celebration was a feast for the eyes, ears & belly; stimulating public action on food waste at both the community and national policy level.

The brilliant day was organised in partnership with Feedback, Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, Brighton & Hove City Council, FareShare, Brighton and Hove Friends of the Earth, The Real Junk Food Project Brighton, The Food Waste Collective Brighton, Freegle, University of Brighton, and the University of Sussex. This amazing coalition fed over 5000 people and saved over 1 tonne of food from going to landfill.

Speakers included, amoungst others, Feedback’s founder Tristram Stuart, Douglas McMaster from Silo Zero Waste Restaurant, Caroline Lucas MP and Community Chef Olly Dawson from Olly’s Fish Shack.
