Wonky Pear Giveaway at the People’s Climate March
Date(s) - 21/September/2014
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Did you know that if food waste was a country, it would be the third largest carbon emitter after USA and China?
We took part in the momentous Peoples Climate March London on Sunday 21st of September giving out over 1000 delicious wonky pears that would have been wasted due to retailer’s excessive cosmetic standards. This has a direct impact on climate change, as 10% of rich countries’ greenhouse gas emissions come from growing food that is never eaten.
Our brilliant volunteers spread the word about how food waste contributes to climate change by giving out pears, encouraging people to sign the food waste pledge and also helping our friends at Food for All serve over 1000 curries made from food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
Thanks to everyone who came to help on the day.
