Green Futures
WHAT IS GREEN FUTURES 2G?
Green Futures 2G is a Buckinghamshire based project that will support the local green economy, better address youth unemployment and reconnect young people to land and nature. After a successful pilot in 2022/ 2023 we are back with the second phase till 2026 funded by The Rothschild Foundation.
OUR AIM
Feedback has been funded to support organisations to better connect local young people to the green economy. We aim to do this in four ways:
- Create new local career pathways into the Green Economy for young people from minority groups, challenging or disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Careers advice and support, through safe and empowering experiences for young people aged 11-17 years from marginalised backgrounds.
- Support organisations to trial new collaborative projects which support young people to develop green employability skills and enhance the local food and farming sector.
- Work with local schools or youth groups to create local campaigns tackling food related issues.
Central to the project is the coordination of a ‘Green Futures Network’ of passionate and like minded schools, youth organisations and social enterprises/ charities/ businesses in the progressive food and farming sector. We will be offering funded pilot partnership projects, sector exposure visits; talks and event across the county promoting green jobs and careers. All to generate innovation and collaboration between all the great work that happens across the county. There will also been a library of meetings, local conference and visits for members to get involved in and showcase local opportunities.
The Green Futures Team are able to offering mentoring sessions as well as training opportunities for all organisations involved, from health & safety to safeguarding or topics like working with young people with additional needs or inclusive employment practice.
