Call for proposals: Anti-racist practice in the food and environment sector

Key Information

A small group of organisations in the food and environment sector are seeking to work together to better understand how we can address systemic racism and oppression in the food, farming and environmental sector, and in the work that we do.

We are seeking an experienced facilitator who is passionate about anti-racism, food and the environment to work with us to create a space to critically explore the reality of our work through a new lens leading to a common commitment towards change and accountability.

About the job

A small group of organisations in the food and environment sector are seeking to work together to better understand how we can address systemic racism and oppression in the food, farming and environmental sector, and in the work that we do. The organisations involved are:

  • Feedback
  • Soil Association
  • Food Ethics Council
  • Sustain
  • Food, Farming and Countryside Commission
  • Sustainable Soils Alliance
  • Better Food Traders

Our starting point is that as organisations and individuals we are part of an inherently racist and oppressive society and economy. This requires us to reflect, question and change the ways that we work – our internal practices, our programmes, our campaigning as well as our fundraising.

We are seeking external facilitation in recognition of the fact that despite the best of intentions and no shortage of good will amongst the partners, no single organisation possesses the knowledge or experience to successfully design and deliver such programme. We hope that an experienced facilitator(s) who is passionate about anti-racism, food and the environment will be able to create a space which is safe enough to critically explore the reality of our work through a new lens leading to a new common commitment towards change and accountability.
